Our Story at Eight ... |
In April of 1999, Cherokee residents were invited to invest in a new bank being formed by 10 local directors, and by July, Cherokee Bank opened its doors in a temporary facility with eight employees. The bank moved into a permanent home in its present main office in March of 2000. After a short 15 months of operation, the bank had its first break-even month in October of 2000. Assets grew steadily from the start, passing the $50 million mark within two years, $100 million within four years and surpassing the $200 million mark within seven years. A temporary office was opened in South Canton in July 2002 to complement the bank's North Canton main office. The permanent facility opened in January of 2004. In 2007, the bank opened its Woodstock Office to serve clients in Woodstock, Acworth and Kennesaw.
Today, Cherokee Bank employs over 60 financial professionals, with two offices in Canton and an office in Woodstock, and has grown to over $200 million in assets. A quick survey of our professional staff reveals almost 750 combined years of experience in the banking industry, with more than 240 years of experience among our commercial lending group.
One of our areas of expertise is small business lending. Our size and structure allow us to make quick, personal decisions about loan applications. We can look beyond the numbers on the page and see the bigger story-to help you realize the dream behind the dollars. Another advantage of being a smaller community bank is our ability to incorporate new services quickly and take advantage of new technology. We can offer specialty services, like remote deposit for our business clients and Internet banking is an option as well.
Cherokee Bank also offers friendly, professional service to clients with personal banking needs-- no one is just an account number at Cherokee Bank. We pride ourselves on creating a banking experience that is pleasant and efficient, with a variety of options and services to fit each individual's and each family's needs. As Cherokee Bank grows; we are committed to offering more services to our clients, without losing our personal touch.
Our shareholders, who are members of the community and clients themselves, expect us to be fiscally responsible and offer a sound return on their investment. That is already happening, and we are investing in the community as well. As a good corporate citizen, Cherokee Bank is active in the support of many community efforts, striving to improve the quality of life for all our residents.
What do the next five years hold for Cherokee Bank? We plan to continue to build on our successful model of relationship banking. What a community bank can't offer in the convenience of locations everywhere, we make up for with service and commitment. We will continue to expand our market share in the Cherokee community with our new Woodstock Office. Eventually, we will examine potential acquisitions in neighboring communities. But above all, we intend to remain Your Homegrown Bank.
