Dennis W. Burnette
Mr. Burnette is President and Chief Executive Officer of Cherokee Banking Company and Cherokee Bank. In his 45 year career in the banking industry, he has more than 30 years’ experience as a bank president. He is past Chairman of the Board of the Georgia Bankers Association, was the American Bankers Association State Chairman for Georgia, is a past Trustee of the Graduate School of Banking of the South at Louisiana State University, where he was recognized during his service as a most outstanding Trustee of the school.
Mr. Burnette also serves on numerous local and regional boards, including: the Atlanta Regional Commission; the Canton Rotary Charitable Fund, Inc.; and the Canton Development Authority. Mr. Burnette is a Founding Director of Cherokee Banking Company and Cherokee Bank.
William L. Early, M.D.
Dr. Early is Founder, President and Managing Partner of Medical Associates of North Georgia, a large multi-specialty medical clinic in Cherokee County. He celebrated his 30th year of practice in Cherokee County in 2011.He has been an active leader in Cherokee County for over 30 years. Among his numerous community projects, Medical Associates sponsored the American Heart Walk in Cherokee County for four years and raised more than $100,000.
Dr. Early was chosen as one of Cherokee County’s Most Influential Citizens of the 20th Century. He is a recipient of the Lamar Haley Community Service Award for outstanding and continuing community support and service. And he was selected the Cherokee County First Citizen of the Year for 2006 for his long-standing and continued commitment to excellence and service in Cherokee County. He is a Founding Director of Cherokee Banking Company and Cherokee Bank and was selected Director of the Year in 2008.
Albert L. Evans, Ph.D.
Dr. Evans is a graduate of Yale University and has his Ph. D. from Georgia State in Science Education. He is a retired teacher of Chemistry and Advanced Placement Chemistry. During his 40 year teaching career he taught in high schools and colleges and coached football, wrestling, soccer and track. Dr. Evans is a Founding Director of Cherokee Banking Company and Cherokee Bank.
J. Calvin Hill, Jr.
Mr. Hill is founder and CFO of Gila Distributing, Inc., an international distributor of specialized glazing tools and President of Gila Properties, Inc., a property development and management company.
In the early 1990’s, Mr. Hill was twice elected as Mayor of the City of Ball Ground, Georgia. Since 2003, he has served as a State Representative in the Georgia General Assembly, where he is Vice Chairman –Appropriations, Secretary of the Budget and Fiscal Affairs Oversight Committee and serves on the Banks and Banking, State Institutions and Properties and the Special Rules Committees.
Nationally, Chairman Hill is the Georgia House State Chairman to the American Legislative Exchange Council and Vice-Chairman of its Communication and Technology Task. He also serves on the Energy and Environment Committees of the National Council of State Legislators. As a longtime member of the International Relations Committee of the Council of State Governments, Calvin was a distinguished member of its 2007 inaugural class of the Center for Advancement of Leadership Skills.
A current Trustee of Reinhardt University, Mr. Hill has served his community as Vice-Chairman of the Cherokee Chamber of Commerce, a graduate of the Regional Leadership Institute and Leadership Cherokee, president of the Canton, Ga., Rotary Club, Cherokee Chairman of the United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta, Director of the March of Dimes, Northwest, Chairman of the Y.M.C.A. among many other civic affiliations.
Roger M. Johnson
Mr. Johnson is an attorney at law and a partner in the firm of Bray and Johnson in Canton, Ga. Since 1972 he has been a member of the Georgia Bar Association and the Blue Ridge Bar Association, of which he is past President. He also served a two-year term in the Georgia General Assembly.
Mr. Johnson assisted in organizing the first Cherokee County Recreation Association and is a past Chairman of the Association. He is a Founding Director of Cherokee Banking Company and Cherokee Bank was chosen Director of the Year in 2000, 2007 and 2012.
J. David Keller
Mr. Keller is a partner in Denney-Keller Investments, LLC, and retired President of L.A.T. Sportswear, Inc. During his tenure with L.A.T. Sportswear, he was instrumental in taking the company public, working in all phases of the process, from initial planning to road show to its listing on NASDAQ.
Mr. Keller is a former member of the Board of Trustees of Wildwood Christian Academy in Marble Hill, Ga. He is a past Chairman of the Cherokee Bank Advisory Board of Pickens County. A Founding Director of Cherokee Banking Company and Cherokee Bank, he was chosen Director of the Year in 2004.
John S. Moreau
Mr. Moreau is Executive Vice President and Senior Lending Officer of Cherokee Bank. With over 20 years of experience in the banking industry, he previously served as First Vice President with the Bankers Bank, managing a loan portfolio in excess of $250 million, was a Vice President and Commercial Lender with SunTrust Bank, and began his career with BankSouth.
Mr. Moreau is a member of the Credit Committee of the Georgia Bankers Association. He is past chairman and a current board member of the G. Cecil Pruett Community Center Family YMCA. He was recognized by the Metro Atlanta YMCA in 2007 as an outstanding volunteer for Cherokee County. Mr. Moreau has been a Director of Cherokee Bank since 2004.
Wanda P. Roach
Mrs. Roach is a Realtor with ERA Sunrise Realty, Inc. She is an Executive Committee member and past President of the Cherokee Association of Realtors, for which she is a Platinum Phoenix Award winner and was named Realtor of the Year in 2007. She is also a member of the Georgia Association of Realtors and National Association of Realtors.
Mrs. Roach is a Board member of several Cherokee County governmental and civic organizations, including the Development Authority of Cherokee County, the Downtown Development Authority of the City of Canton (Chairman), the Cherokee County DUI/Drug Treatment Court Foundation and board member of Canton Main Street. She is also a member of the Reinhardt College A-Day Advance Gifts Committee. She is the recipient of the 2008 Lamar Haley Community Service Award from the Canton Rotary Club. A Founding Director of Cherokee Banking Company and Cherokee Bank, Mrs. Roach was chosen Director of the Year in 2001.
A.R. (Rick) Roberts, III
Mr. Roberts is Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Cherokee Bank. With more than 30 years’ experience in the banking industry, he previously served for 18 years in various capacities with Citizens Bank in Ball Ground, Ga., including eight years as Executive Vice President of Operations and Chief Financial Officer. He was also a member of the bank’s Board of Directors and is the longtime mayor of Ball Ground.
Mr. Roberts’ extensive community involvement includes service on the: Reinhardt College Board of Trustees; Cherokee Municipal Association; Cherokee County Development Authority; Metropolitan North Georgia Water Planning District Board; Ball Ground Elementary School Council; Georgia Municipal Association Board of Directors; and the Metro Atlanta Mayors Association Executive Committee. He is the recipient of the 2009 Georgia Municipal Association Leadership Program Certificate of Excellence. Mr. Roberts is a Founding Director of Cherokee Banking Company and Cherokee Bank.
Donald F. Stevens, Chairman
Mr. Stevens is an Associate Broker with ERA Sunrise Realty, Inc. A retired Delta Air Lines Captain with 34 years of service, he is past Chairman of the Cherokee County Water & Sewerage Authority and Chairman of the Cherokee County Airport Authority.
Mr. Stevens serves on numerous local boards and organizations, including the WellStar/ Kennestone Regional Health Board, the Cherokee County DUI/Drug Treatment Court Foundation, the Reinhardt College Board of Advisors, the Executive Board and past Chairman of the Reinhardt College A-Day Campaign, and the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce (past Chairman). He has served on several boards and committees of Canton 1st United Methodist Church, presently, on the Finance and the Staff Parish Relations Committees. A graduate of Leadership Cherokee, he was the recipient of the 1996 Lamar Haley Community Service Award from the Canton Rotary Club, was named Cherokee County First Citizen in 2004, and received the Cherokee FOCUS Community Service Award in 2006. Mr. Stevens, a Founding Director of Cherokee Banking Company and Cherokee Bank, was chosen Director of the Year in 2003 and 2009, and is Chairman of both Boards.
Edwin I. Swords, III D.D.S.
Dr. Swords is a dentist and partner in the practice of Swords and Phelps, D.D.S., P.C., which has served Canton for almost 60 years. Dr. Swords has been with the practice – founded by his father – for nearly 25 years. He is a member of the Northwest Dental Society and the American Dental Association.
For a number of years, Dr. Swords has served as a Board member of Flying Doctors of America and has made numerous mission trips to isolated areas of Mexico, Venezuela, Ecuador and Peru to provide dental care to those who cannot afford medical or dental treatment. A Founding Director of Cherokee Banking Company and Cherokee Bank, Dr. Swords was chosen Director of the Year in 2002.
